Idle Miner Tycoon

I'm switching to BCH. Here's why, from an unbiased, non-whale, non-mining-magnate, mildly informed, middle-class Joe on the street.

I was not ever extremely involved in Bitcoin. I first heard about it through my friend in early 2015 and didn't pay it much mind as it didn't seem that interesting or useful at the time and wasn't quite yet fully mainstream. We mined about $50 with a couple outdated ASICs some random Redditor sent us, then our op got shut down by his dad when his power costs doubled, and he blew the coins on CS:GO skins. I only started getting involved with it again a few months ago when the massive price spike happened and all the mainstream news articles started coming in. We're again thinking of pooling our money to buy a miner, this time a real one (those Dragonmint ones sound interesting if legit), and I'm even doing my science fair project on cryptocurrency. (Science fair research is where most of my history and technical(ish) understanding comes from.)
I've done my fair share of reading on the major forks (BTC and BCH), and up until now I didn't really pick a side. I subscribe to both major subs and I think that both forks have merit. But today I really realized that Cash is the only logical direction that Bitcoin should go in, and Core is just not what Bitcoin is supposed to do and definitely not what any of Bitcoin's early supporters intended.
My realization basically occurred when I realized that "the solution to scaling isn't necessarily to raise blocksize" sounds the exact same as "the solution to losing weight isn't necessarily to output more calories than you input." There is not a way to properly scale TX volume without A) changing the implementation in such a way as that the Bitcoin fundamentals are lost (e.g. LN) or B) increasing the blocksize. This puts Core supporters in one of two camps: that losing some of the fundamentals are okay if it means that TX volume can scale without increasing blocksize, or that TX volume is not supposed to scale and that Bitcoin should migrate to a store-of-value. In both cases, a long-term future is possible, but is not what Bitcoin is supposed to be. In the first case, the fundamental codebase and storing all transactions on-chain is what makes Bitcoin so good and what has allowed it to reach such widespread adoption and wild pricing, so killing it makes no sense on any level. In the second case, you are ignoring almost all of what Bitcoin is designed to be - the whitepaper is written entirely around transactions and the codebase is wholly written for and focused on transactionary purposes. Bitcoin transacts in a way that no other widespread currency can, and to willfully ignore that in favor of a generic store-of-value -- which is already accomplished by a billion other things -- is to say "fuck you" to Satoshi, his vision, and all of his code.
The solution to scaling is, and always will be, to increase blocksize. It's that simple. The 8MB blocks wouldn't even be halfway to filling even if all transactions from both forks were to occur on them, and today's mining and node hardware can easily handle them. It's already technologically feasible to mine 1GB blocks, which would sustain about 3000 TX/s. Both general computing and mining hardware is constantly evolving at an absolutely blistering pace, and as long as growth rates stay even somewhat reasonable, network members' hardware will be able to handle whatever blocksize is needed, while maintaining full decentralization.
Bitcoin is meant to be a transactionary currency, and to try and make it anything else is a farce and an insult to everyone who supported it in its early days. In order to be a transactionary currency and still maintain all of the fundamentals of the Bitcoin code, the blocksize must be increased and continue to be increased in whatever increments are needed. Real-time blocksize increases are fully sustainable and will always be sustainable as long as hardware (both general and mining) continues to evolve at a pace even remotely similar to its pace today.
Bitcoin Cash is Bitcoin. Bitcoin Legacy is a waste of the Bitcoin name and of all the code, concepts, visions and effort of everyone who helped create it. Thank you to everyone who helped me slowly see the light, and I would be gratified if this post helps even one person come to the same realization.
EDIT: Much thanks for gold! I have themes again!
EDIT 2: A TL;DR, because this is a bit long, copied from my response to DonaldJTrumpMBGA:
A) Bitcoin is intended as a transactionary currency
B) Bitcoin should not lose any of its core code features that it came into existence with
C) In order for both A and B to concurrently be true, a blocksize increase is mandatory, thus BCH is the true Bitcoin

'''
This is basically a reply to this thread [Open-source companies gather to gripe: Cloud giants sell our code as a service – and we get the square root of nothing]1
I wrote a thread on this topic about 10 months ago here:
[Unpopular opinion: Until Linux/FOSS embrace the FOSS that became FO money, things like Redhat and Microsoft will only get worse until there is no more Linux community]2
I think that my post was a bit too early and the community may have misjudged my intent. But now that this subject is becoming more and more common, I think it would be helpful to bring it up again. The fundamental issue with FOSS is that the currency and financial system that we rely on for our everyday economy is heavily corrupt and unfair. Basically, unless you're kissing someone's ass you can't get funding.
This is NOT how the economy should run. What's the solution? Well the first step to solving this problem is to obviously switch to a non-corrupt financial system, so as to free yourself from the restrictive policies and financial limitations that are automagically built into our current system.
By switching to cryptocurrencies for your funding requests, spending and other needs, you will gain the full control and sovereignty over your funding that will allow you to grow unhindered by those who would maliciously starve open source projects by cynically cutting their funding opportunity unless you 'comply' with their demands.
Switching to cryptocurrencies is a necessary but NOT sufficient step. But once you make the switch, the entire world opens up and funding models that you didn't dream of before become not just possible, but natural. For example, Dash has been running a DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) for the last 4 years or so. Unlike BTC which takes 100% of the block reward and gives it to miners, in Dash we split the reward 45% for miners 45% for masternodes (who run the only successful, decentralized 2nd layer services in crypto that other coins like BTC and monero are dreaming about implementing one day TM), and 10% for the budget.
That 10% is voted upon by the masternodes (who must prove they own 1000 Dash to show they have skin in the game) and goes to a myriad of different projects. Literally dozens of different teams are currently vying for funding in order to participate in the spread of Dash adoption globally. This is such a powerful effect, that most of them started as grassroots efforts like our efforts in Venezuela.
This is just an example of cryptocurrency providing a release valve in a high pressure situation: [Dash Core Says Its Cryptocurrency Is Most Used Coin For Venezuelan Merchants]3
According to data released by the company, 10,000 people are using Dash not only as a way to invest, as most people use Bitcoin, for instance, but as a way to purchase goods and services. Basically, Dash is cash. No other crypto has reached this level in Venezuela.
Venezuela’s high inflation has created a need for a currency that has some stability and Dash has been the answer that many people have decided on. In fact, if the data is actually right, it looks like Dash will be even more used than Petro, the crypto launched by the Venezuelan government during the beginning of the year.
There are hundreds to thousands of merchants that accept Dash in Venezuela directly (not via payment processor or gift cards). This is more than every other cryptocurrency in the world. Dash has more stores that accept it in Venezuela than BCH (the next runner up for adoption) has in the entire world - [around 1600 stores accept BCH globally]4 .
Not just Venezuela, but also [Dash Nigeria]5 , [Dash Haiti]6 , and [Dash Thailand]7 . No other cryptocurrency has teams on the ground around the globe like this. And the reason is because no other team has a positive, self-reinforcing financial feedback loop like Dash that funds proposals to further adoption. You can see of them all here [at DashNexus.org]8 . At the current price that is $USD 530,535.6 being paid out every month to projects in the Dash ecosystem. There are other funding models as well.
Once you've gotten financially free, then you can begin to investigate new and upcoming software development techniques that purport to pay developers like [Emergent Coding - What is Emergent Coding? by jonald_fyookball]9 TL;DR Emergent Coding is a new form of software architecture that, if it works, may allow developers to get paid for their work while releasing object code.
Basically, they take the current software architecture paradigm and flip it on its head. Now, devs write source and release source to their clients. This has the unintended consequence of giving the IP to the client and preventing the developer from capitalizing on their efforts in repeat business (because the client now owns the IP).
Well, Emergent coding is coding in such a way that you release object code openly as an 'Agent' which is then combined/glued together with other object code in order to produce a binary (that's not decompilable) that anyone can use while you maintain control over the source/IP. The glue they use to fund this is Bitcoin Cash. Before BCH, this technique wouldn't be possible using the traditional financial system. Emergent coding may or may not work out, but the point remains that now that we have cryptocurrencies, we finally have the chance to find out. All of which means you can rent out your 'Agent', get paid while still maintaining control over the IP, which means you can use software for repeat business like everyone else does in the industrialized world.
The point is that when you embrace freedom, the entire world opens up to you and brand new paradigms become available. The sky becomes the limit again, just like the first time you embraced Linux.
Cheers.

Decred Journal – July 2018

Note: you can read this on Medium, GitHub or old Reddit to view all the links

Development

dcrd: Several steps towards multipeer downloads completed: an optimization to use in-memory block index and a new 1337 chain view. Maintenance: improved test coverage, upgrading dependency management system and preparing for the upcoming Go 1.11 release.
dcrwallet: A big change introducing optional privacy-preserving SPV sync mode was merged. In this mode dcrwallet does not download the full blockchain but only gets the "filters", uses them to determine which blocks it needs and fetches them from random nodes on the network. This has on-disk footprint of 300-400 MB and sync time of minutes, compared to ~3.4 GB and sync time of hours for full sync (these are rough estimates).
jy-p: the server side of SPV (in dcrd) was deployed in v1.2.0, the client side of SPV (in dcrwallet) is in our next release, v1.3.0. Still some minor bugs in SPV that are being worked out. There will be an update to add the latest features from BIP 157/158 in the next few months. SPV will be optional in v1.3.0, but it will become the default after we get a proper header commitment for it (#general)
Decrediton: besides regular bugfixes and design improvements, several components are being developed in parallel like SPV mode, Politeia integration and Trezor support.
Politeia: testing started on mainnet, thanks to everyone who is participating. A lot of testing, bugfixing and polishing is happening in preparation for full mainnet launch. There are also a few missing features to be added before launch, e.g. capacity to edit a proposal and versioning for that, discussion to remain open once voting starts. Decrediton integration is moving forward, check out this video for a demo and this meta issue for the full checklist.
Trezor: Decrediton integration of initial Trezor support is in progress and there is a demo.
Android: app design version 2.0 completed.
dcrdata: development of several chart visualizations was completed and is awaiting deployment. Specifically, voting agendas and historic charts are merged while ticket pool visualization is in testing.
atomicswap: @glendc is seeking reviews of his Ethereum support pull request.
Dev activity stats for July: 252 active PRs, 220 master commits, 34,754 added and 12,847 deleted lines spread across 6 repositories. Contributions came from 6-10 developers per repository. (chart)

Network

Hashrate: the month started at 40.5 and ended at 51.6 PH/s, with a low of 33.3 and a new all time high of 68.4 PH/s. F2Pool is leading with 40-45%, followed by the new BeePool at 15-25% and coinmine.pl at 18-23%.
Staking: 30-day average ticket price is 92.6 DCR (-2.1). The price started the month at 94.6 and quickly retreated to month's low of 85 until 1,860 tickets were bought within a single period (versus target 720). This pushed the pool of tickets to 41,970 (2.5% above target), which in turn caused 10 price increases in a row to the month's high of 100.4. This was the highest ticket price seen on the new ticket price algorithm which has been in effect since Jul 2017. Second half of the month there was unusually low volatility between 92 and 94 DCR per ticket. Locked DCR held between 3.75 and 3.87 million or 46.6-48.0% of supply (+0.1% from previous peak).
Nodes: there are 212 public listening and 216 normal nodes per dcred.eu. Version distribution: 67% on v1.2.0 (+10%), 24% on v1.1.2 (-1%), 7% on v1.1.0 (-7%). Node count data is not perfect but we can see the steady trend of upgrading to v1.2.0. This version of dcrd is notable for serving compact filters. The increased count of such full nodes allows the developers to test SPV client mode in preparations for the upcoming v1.3.0 release.

ASICs

Obelisk posted three updates in July. For the most recent daily updates join their Discord.
New miner from iBeLink: DSM7T hashes Blake256 at 7 TH/s or Blake2b at 3.5 TH/s, consumes 2,100 W and costs $3,800, shipping Aug 5-10.
There were also speculations about the mysterious Pangolin Whatsminer DCR with the speed of 44 TH/s at 2,200 W and the cost of $3,888, shipping November. If you know more about it please share with us in #pow-mining channel.

Integrations

Meet new stake pool: dcrpool.ibitlin.com has 1% fees and is hosted by @life.
An interesting detail about decredbrasil.com stake pool was posted in chat:
emiliomann: stakebrasil is one of the pools with the lowest number of missed and expired tickets. It was one of the first and has a smaller percentage than the most recent ones who haven’t had the time to do so. (...) The Brazilian pool should be the one with the more servers spread around the world: 6 to decrease the latency. This is to explain to you why the [pool fee] rate of 5% (currently around 0.06 DCR) on the reward is also one of the highest. girino: 8 voting wallets now. I just finished setting up a new one yesterday. All of them in different datacenters, 3 in europe, 3 in north america, 1 in brazil and one in asia. We also have 3 more servers, 1 for the front end, one for "stats" and one for dcrdata. (#general)
On the mining side, Luxor started a new set of pool servers inside mainland China, while zpool has enabled Decred mining.
StatX announced Decred integration into their live dashboard and public chat.
Decred was added to Satowallet with BTC and ETH trading pairs. Caution: do your best to understand the security model before using any wallet software.

Adoption

VotoLegal update:
Marina Silva is the first presidential candidate in Brazil using blockchain to keep all their electoral donations transparent and traceable. VotoLegal uses Decred technology, awesome use case! (reddit)
The story was covered by criptonoticias.com (translated) and livecoins.com.br (translated), the latter received hundreds of upvotes and comments on brasil.
On the OTC trading front, @i2Rav from i2trading reports:
We continue to see institutional interest in DCR. Large block buyers love the concept of staking as a way to earn additional income and appreciate the stakeholder rights it affords them. Likening a DCR investment to an activist shareholdebondholder gives these institutions some comfort while dipping their toes into a burgeoning new asset class.

Marketing

Targeted advertising reports released for June and July. As usual, reach @timhebel for full versions.
Big news in June: Facebook reversed their policy on banning crypto ads. ICO ads are still banned, but we should be OK. My team filled out the appeal today, so we should hopefully hear something within a few days. (u/timhebel on reddit)
After couple weeks Facebook finally responded to the appeal and the next step is to verify the domain name via DNS.
A pack of Stakey Telegram stickers is now available. Have fun!

Development

dcrd: Version 1.3.0 RC1 (Release Candidate 1) is out! The main features of this release are significant performance improvements, including some that benefit SPV clients. Full release notes and downloads are on GitHub.
The default minimum transaction fee rate was reduced from 0.001 to 0.0001 DCkB. Do not try to send such small fee transactions just yet, until the majority of the network upgrades.
Release process was changed to use release branches and bump version on the master branch at the beginning of a release cycle. Discussed in this chat.
The codebase is ready for the new Go 1.11 version. Migration to vgo module system is complete and the 1.4.0 release will be built using modules. The list of versioned modules and a hierarchy diagram are available here.
The testnet was reset and bumped to version 3.
Comments are welcome for the proposal to implement smart fee estimation, which is important for Lightning Network.
@matheusd recorded a code review video for new Decred developers that explains how tickets are selected for voting.
dcrwallet: Version 1.3.0 RC1 features new SPV sync mode, new ticket buyer, new APIs for Decrediton and a host of bug fixes. On the dev side, dcrwallet also migrated to the new module system.
Decrediton: Version 1.3.0 RC1 adds the new SPV sync mode that syncs roughly 5x faster. The feature is off by default while it receives more testing from experienced users. Other notable changes include a design polish and experimental Politeia integration.
Politeia: Proposal editing is being developed and has a short demo. This will allow proposal owners to edit their proposal in response to community feedback before voting begins. The challenges associated with this feature relate to updating censorship tokens and maintaining a clear history of which version comments were made on. @fernandoabolafio produced this architecture diagram which may be of interest to developers.
@degeri joined to perform security testing of Politeia and found several issues.
dcrdata: mainnet explorer upgraded to v2.1 with several new features. For users: credit/debit tx filter on address page, showing miner fees on coinbase transaction page, estimate yearly ticket rewards on main page, cool new hamburger menu and keyboard navigation. For developers: new chain parameters page, experimental Insight API support, endpoints for coin supply and block rewards, testnet3 support. Lots of minor API changes and frontend tweaks, many bug fixes and robustness improvements.
The upcoming v3.0 entered beta and is deployed on beta.dcrdata.org. Check out the new charts page. Feedback and bug reports are appreciated. Finally, the development version v3.1.0-pre is on alpha.dcrdata.org.
Android: updated to be compatible with the latest SPV code and is syncing, several performance issues are worked on. Details were posted in chat. Alpha testing has started, to participate please join #dev and ask for the APK.
iOS: backend is mostly complete, as well as the front end. Support for devices with smaller screens was improved. What works now: creating and recovering wallets, listing of transactions, receiving DCR, displaying and scanning QR codes, browsing account information, SPV connection to peers, downloading headers. Some bugs need fixing before making testable builds.
Ticket splitting: v0.6.0 beta released with improved fee calculation and multiple bug fixes.
docs: introduced new Governance section that grouped some old articles as well as the new Politeia page.
@Richard-Red created a concept repository sandbox with policy documents, to illustrate the kind of policies that could be approved and amended by Politeia proposals.
decred.org: 8 contributors added and 4 removed, including 2 advisors (discussion here).
decredmarketcap.com is a brand new website that shows the most accurate DCR market data. Clean design, mobile friendly, no javascript required.
Dev activity stats for August: 239 active PRs, 219 commits, 25k added and 11k deleted lines spread across 8 repositories. Contributions came from 2-10 developers per repository. (chart)

Network

Hashrate: went from 54 to 76 PH/s, the low was 50 and the new all-time high is 100 PH/s. BeePool share rose to ~50% while F2Pool shrank to 30%, followed by coinmine.pl at 5% and Luxor at 3%.
Staking: 30-day average ticket price is 95.6 DCR (+3.0) as of Sep 3. During the month, ticket price fluctuated between a low of 92.2 and high of 100.5 DCR. Locked DCR represented between 3.8 and 3.9 million or 46.3-46.9% of the supply.
Nodes: there are 217 public listening and 281 normal nodes per dcred.eu. Version distribution: 2% at v1.4.0(pre) (dev builds), 5% on v1.3.0 (RC1), 62% on v1.2.0 (-5%), 22% on v1.1.2 (-2%), 6% on v1.1.0 (-1%). Almost 69% of nodes are v.1.2.0 and higher and support client filters. Data snapshot of Aug 31.

ASICs

Obelisk posted 3 email updates in August. DCR1 units are reportedly shipping with 1 TH/s hashrate and will be upgraded with firmware to 1.5 TH/s. Batch 1 customers will receive compensation for missed shipment dates, but only after Batch 5 ships. Batch 2-5 customers will be receiving the updated slim design.
Innosilicon announced the new D9+ DecredMaster: 2.8 TH/s at 1,230 W priced $1,499. Specified shipping date was Aug 10-15.
FFMiner DS19 claims 3.1 TH/s for Blake256R14 at 680 W and simultaneously 1.55 TH/s for Blake2B at 410 W, the price is $1,299. Shipping Aug 20-25.
Another newly noticed miner offer is this unit that does 46 TH/s at 2,150 W at the price of $4,720. It is shipping Nov 2018 and the stats look very close to Pangolin Whatsminer DCR (which has now a page on asicminervalue).

Integrations

www.d1pool.com joined the list of stakepools for a total of 16.
Australian CoinTree added DCR trading. The platform supports fiat, there are some limitations during the upgrade to a new system but also no fees in the "Early access mode". On a related note, CoinTree is working on a feature to pay household bills with cryptocurrencies it supports.
Three new OTC desks were added to exchanges page at decred.org.
Two mobile wallets integrated Decred:
Reminder: do your best to understand the security and privacy model before using any wallet software. Points to consider: who controls the seed, does the wallet talk to the nodes directly or via middlemen, is it open source or not?

Markets

DCR started the month at USD 56 / BTC 0.0073 and had a two week decline. On Aug 14 the whole market took a huge drop and briefly went below USD 200 billion. Bitcoin went below USD 6,000 and top 100 cryptos lost 5-30%. The lowest point coincided with Bitcoin dominance peak at 54.5%. On that day Decred dived -17% and reached the bottom of USD 32 / BTC 0.00537. Since then it went sideways in the USD 35-45 / BTC 0.0054-0.0064 range. Around Aug 24, Huobi showed DCR trading volume above USD 5M and this coincided with a minor recovery.

The ongoing debates about the possible Sia fork yet again demonstrate the importance of a robust dispute resolution mechanism. Also, we are lucky to have the treasury.
Mark B Lundeberg, who found a vulnerability in atomicswap earlier, published a concept of more private peer-to-peer atomic swaps. (missed in July issue)
Medium took a cautious stance on cryptocurrencies and triggered at least one project to migrate to Ghost (that same project previously migrated away from Slack).
Regulation: Vietnam bans mining equipment imports, China halts crypto events and tightens control of crypto chat groups.
Reddit was hacked by intercepting 2FA codes sent via SMS. The announcement explains the impact. Yet another data breach suggests to think twice before sharing any data with any company and shift to more secure authentication systems.

The problem is quite urgent, or why *some* UASF does make sense

UASF, as explained well by shaolinfry here, is a scheme that basically requires overwhelming support from the userbase of Bitcoin. For this reason, even though it's a soft fork, which is fundamentally safer than a hardfork, is a risky strategy. Why support it? Why not just let things lie, and accept that updating Bitcoin is hard and that isn't, by any means, an unambiguously bad thing?
The answer at a high level, is that miners are now fully convinced that they not only have a say in changes to Bitcoin, but the only say. And that is a disaster.

Scenario:

2 months from now, no UASF gained any traction, miners, led by Jihan Wu, celebrate this victory and enact a new fork. It doesn't matter if it's a soft or hard fork, but the former are easier to do. It could be something stupid and disruptive like only allow transactions that say "Jihan wu is great!" in an OP_RETURN (note: SF because rule restriction, so old nodes don't get kicked off the main chain; but still massively disruptive because disabling old node txs). Or more realistically it could be some kind of hard fork to move to "emergent consensus", where miners entirely control the size of blocks, or .. whatever. What's far more important to Jihan and his crew is to establish the precedent - we say what the main chain is, because we have the hashpower.
If we've given up on any ideas of user activation, we are completely powerless to stop it. And that goes as much for Roger Ver as it does for Greg Maxwell, users, developers, anybody. Hash power no longer just orders transactions - it sets all rules, full stop. Many will say "they won't try to force a block reward increase or huge fees, they'd be going against their real incentives" - of course, mostly true, at least today. But it can be much more subtle, to start with. Hashpower sets rules on covert asicboost, enabling monopoly. It sets rules that decide what kinds of transactions are allowed. Jihan may feel (and there's evidence that some miners do feel this) that privacy-enhancing upgrades are intolerable; to stay on the right side of governments, no kinds of easy mixing tech is allowed. No second layer (which is too good for privacy) payment channels allowed. Let's disable OP_CSV that's "complicated", "technical debt".

So is anything realistic without UASF coordination, or are we doomed?

Disabling covert asicboost does not disable asicboost, it only stops miners having a secret reason to prevent a protocol upgrade (whether they've done it or not in the past). Consider people on the fence, e.g. Brian Armstrong at Coinbase. Can he stand up in public and say "I am against only blocking a secret usage of asicboost, which incentivises miners to block protocol updates apart from any other reason, to the tune of $100 million"? On what planet could he say that with a straight face? And the same for any other economically important actor - even miners cannot; although, probably some will, by spouting some bullshit. For this specific case, I think we should be able to get everyone economically significant on board, if only they can be told the facts in a simple, straightforward way. However, if I am wrong about that, the entire Bitcoin project to me is right on the brink of failure. Bitcoin controlled by miners will be a very shitty Paypal, ultimately.

Counterargument - why is a "cabal" of "Core" devs any better than a cabal of miners?

Here we come to the heart of the matter - should there be anyone in charge of changes? If so, who?
My first response is - no one should be able to make any changes, period, ideally. This is a possible, ideal, future - and at least we're trending in that direction. Changes are very hard, and I suspect many super-bright people with slightly thin skin have been very upset about how hard it is to get consensus on their proposals (one reason for so much friction).
But that future is not here yet, so let's look at the past: Satoshi pushed changes and told the miners to upgrade, end of story. Now we have hundreds of developers, with a much smaller number having the most influence. We use an open source governance process, where people gain influence via valued contribution over a long time, and even when they have influence, there are thousands of eyes on their proposed updates.
This governance model isn't perfect, because it involves people. It ought to work fine mostly for low-level technical changes. As a somewhat tech-savvy user, rather than contributor, I'm happy to let those who've proved themselves make the technical decisions, but with the understanding that the project has huge inertia, and that not every decision will be perfect. It's hubris to think you deserve your opinion on technical topics to be heard when you haven't put in the hours on the details of the code.
So while trivial changes to the code either don't happen, or don't cause contention anyway, some quite profound changes, over a period of time, still gain traction today, despite the aforementioned inertia - and segwit is by far the most important one recently, because it fixes a bug in the design of Bitcoin. Make no mistake, segwit is a huge deal - not because it increases the block size, that's a compromise really, but because it finally fixes a bug that will allow people to write code without touching the consensus layer, that enables real innovation; Lightning is the standout illustration of this, but there'll probably be others. Because of this bugfix nature, enabling innovation, segwit might be the last such big change that's even needed. So in this sense, we might actually fall at the last hurdle.

[uncensored-r/btc] I'm switching to BCH. Here's why, from an unbiased, non-whale, non-mining-magnate, mildly informe...

The following post by iAmAddicted2R_ddit is being replicated because some comments within the post(but not the post itself) have been openly removed.
The original post can be found(in censored form) at this link:
np.reddit.com/ btc/comments/7fde71
The original post's content was as follows:
